Basements "An extension of your living space"

Need for Additional space

Investment / Re-sale value

Need for Additional space

Basements are usually one area of the home that families renovate. This is usually driven by the need for additional living space as the family grows and the need for some separation from the teenagers, or a larger entertainment space for the pool table and family gatherings.

Moisture

Investment / Re-sale value

Need for Additional space

At the AG MCGILL GROUP our focus literally starts from the ground up. Let's face it, the number one problem in basements is water. The basement may be water tight when the project is completed, but, what happens when over time the house settles and water penetrates the perimeter of the basement. You need to protect your investment over the long term from water damage, and this can only be done by using the right interior floor and wall system designs that will isolate these areas from contact with water, and thus eliminate the potential for mold development.

Investment / Re-sale value

Investment / Re-sale value

The upfront investment will cost marginally more, however, it protects your investments and enhances re-sale value due to the fact that when it is built the right way and a potential buyer is informed, the additional benefit & value is realized. A poorly finished basement will negatively impact overall value as potential buyers that can see visual defects or questionable quality will become more concerned over what you can't see behind the walls. They will be inclined to pay less due to the fact that they will not want to pay for something that they will only want to replace.
